IS-700a - National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) An Introduction
FEMA National Incident Management Systems Course Links
The following courses are required by North Carolina Emergency Management and Pitt County Emergency Management in order to volunteer as a radio operator at any shelter when amateur radio operations are requested.

It is recommended that you take the courses in the following order: 

IS-700a - National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) An Introduction
IS-100a - Introduction to Incident Command System
IS-200a - ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents
IS-800b - National Response Framework, An Introduction

The following additional courses are required by Pitt County Emergency Management in order to volunteer as a radio operator in the Emergency Operations Center when amateur radio operations are requested.
IS-300:  Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents (Classroom Only)
IS-400:  Advanced ICS - Command & General Staff - Complex Incidents (Classroom Only)

Home Page:
  This will link you to the main page at the FEMA web site for each course.

Exam Questions:
  This link will provide you with a four page pdf file of the questions on the final exam.  You should print the questions out and mark off the correct answers as you find them in your studies.

You can study one of two ways:
1) Student Manual:
  This is a link to the pdf file for the student manual for each course.  The manual is a reproduction of the power point presentation, with notes

2) Interactive Web-Based Course:  This takes you through the material with on-line slides.

When you have answered all the Exam Questions, go to the Take On-Line Final Exam link and answer all the questions on the screens.

Upon successful completion of any courses, you will receive a certificate of completion from FEMA.  Please forward a copy of this certificate to the Emergency Coordinator.  Upon completion of all four courses, you will receive an inviation to register your credentials into the NC ARES Database.  This database is a resource tool for NC Emergency Management.  Registering will ensure that you will be listed as an accredited member of ARES.
